DeLeo Returns To State House 1 Week After Accident

House Speaker Robert DeLeo has returned to the State House for the first time since he broke his ankle slipping on ice outside his home.

The speaker attended a ceremony at the State House on Monday where he received an award from the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention. He was also scheduled to attend the regular Monday afternoon leadership meeting with Gov. Deval Patrick and Senate President Therese Murray.

DeLeo is wearing an air cast and a spokesman for the Winthrop Democrat says he is expected to remain on crutches for the next 6-8 weeks. He took the fall last Monday while getting into his car and was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital.

This program aired on February 14, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
