Hot Weather Brings Concerns Of Increased Crime

BOSTON — Overall, murders and shootings are down in Boston are down. So far this year murders down 46 percent and shootings are down 16 percent. But a sharp increase in violence in the past month has many concerned about the hot summer ahead.

One shooting victim this week is a street worker with nonprofit violence prevention program StreetSafe.

StreetSafe Vice President of Programs Robert Lewis Jr. joined Morning Edition Thursday morning to discuss efforts to make it a peaceful summer in the city.
