Analyst: Gambling Would Be Mass. Revenue Source, Not Development Tool

Top state officials appear to be ready to bet that expanded gambling legislation will be approved on Beacon Hill this year. Gov. Deval Patrick has said that he's met with legislative leaders about an expanded gambling bill.

But how has the climate for this conversation changed since the last time it dominated the agenda on Beacon Hill? Prof. Richard McGowan, who teaches at Boston College, is the author of "The Gambling Debate," and recently released a study (PDF) about the issue in New England, joined Morning Edition Wednesday to discuss.
