Foreclosures In Mass. Hit A High For The Year

Foreclosures in Massachusetts have hit a high for the year. New data from real estate tracking firm The Warren Group shows there were more than 930 foreclosure deeds recorded last month, but that's 22 percent lower than last August.

The Warren Group's Cory Hopkins said it's a mixed bag.

"Comparing 2011 to 2010 is really difficult and trying to figure out or divine what's going to happen going forward based on what happened last year and this year is really tough," Hopkins said.

Hopkins said one bright spot is that foreclosure petitions, the first step in the foreclosure process, are down 53 percent from one year ago.
