Occupy Boston Protesters Shut Down Street

Hundreds from the Occupy Boston movement and union members rallied at the Charlestown Bridge to highlight the need for jobs.

During the march from the Occupy encampment in Dewey Square to the bridge, Atlantic Avenue and then Commercial Street were shut down.

The protesters say the bridge is a symbol of the opportunity to put people back to work on needed improvements to the nation's infrastructure.

Many who took part late Thursday afternoon chanted and carried signs calling for jobs. They were accompanied by bagpipers and people beating on plastic buckets.

The protesters criticized congressional efforts to block job creation bills and what they say are job-killing budget cuts.

The marchers joined thousands around the country in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement, marking its two-month anniversary in New York.
