Longtime Radio Broadcaster Dave Maynard Dies

Longtime WBZ broadcaster Dave Maynard has passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 82.

If you grew up on Boston radio, it's a name and a voice you'll recall.

Maynard was a longtime local fixture, with "Maynard in the Morning" on WBZ from 1980. Before his radio show in 1965, he helped launch and then hosted "Community Auditions," a TV talent show. He also taught at Boston University for 17 years.

Maynard retired from broadcasting 21 years ago. He used his high profile in greater Boston to help raise funds for muscular dystrophy, Easter Seals and Children's Hospital.
