Bristol DA To Formally Announce Run For Congress

Bristol County District Attorney Samuel Sutter is planning to formally launch his campaign for Congress in the newly redrawn 9th Congressional District.

Sutter will make the announcement in a swing through the district today with speeches in Provincetown, Falmouth, Plymouth, New Bedford and Fall River.

An announcement will also be posted on Sutter's website.

The Fall River Democrat will face a primary challenge from fellow Democrat, current congressman William Keating, who is also planning to run in the new district.

Sutter says he decided to run because he's opposed to what he calls the gridlock in Congress that is hampering Washington's ability to tackle the economy, job creation, the national debt, health care and the dependence on foreign oil.

Sam was elected Bristol County district attorney in 2006.
