EPA Gives 9 New England Businesses Energy Star Awards
Nine New England businesses and organizations have been given "Energy Star" awards for their long-term commitment to greater energy efficiency.
The awards are given annually by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The winners include:
- Beacon Capitol Partners LLC of Boston
- Staples Inc., Framingham, Mass.
- Efficiency Vermont and Vermont Gas Systems, both of Burlington, Vt.
- HEI Hotels & Resorts, Norwalk, Conn.
- Raytheon Co., Waltham, Mass.
Other winners are:
- The Joint Management Committee and the Sponsors of the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships Inc., both of Lexington, Mass.
- National Grid, Waltham, Mass.
Energy Star was started by EPA in 1992 as a market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency.
