This article is more than 11 years old.

Two men have pleaded not guilty in connection with a Saugus bank robbery and shootout with police that killed a third suspect.

Thirty-eight-year-old Michael Ginnietti of Winthrop was ordered held without bail after his arraignment Monday in Lynn District Court on a charge of armed robbery.

Forty-eight-year-old Gabriel Megna of East Boston is held on $1 million bail after being arraigned in Malden District Court on charges of armed carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. A prosecutor said at Megna's hearing the men had guns and body armor and tried to carjack several cars during their getaway.

Authorities say the third suspect, 35-year-old William Ekasala of East Boston, died during a shootout with police in a Malden parking lot shortly after the bank robbery on Friday afternoon.
