DA: Skeletal Remains Are Those Of Nantucket Woman

Human bones found in the woods of Falmouth last week are the remains of a pregnant Nantucket woman who disappeared nearly two years ago and she had been shot multiple times, the Cape and Islands district attorney said Tuesday.

The remains of Trudie Hall, 23, were identified by the state medical examiner using dental records and other techniques, District Attorney Michael O'Keefe said.

"Though Trudie will never speak again, by finding her, she has told us much," O'Keefe said during a news conference at Barnstable Police Department. "Among other things, she has told us how many times she was shot and with what kind of bullets." He did not elaborate on either detail.

Hall was four months pregnant when she disappeared under suspicious circumstances in July 2010 after traveling from the island to Hyannis. O'Keefe did not say why she came to the mainland, but her mother previously said she came to see a movie.

A day after her mother reported her missing, police found Hall's rental car in a commuter lot in Barnstable. Investigators found bullet casings and evidence of blood in the vehicle, which they said at the time pointed to foul play.

Hall's remains were found about 15 miles away Thursday by a man walking his dog.

Hall was carrying the child of a married man with a criminal record when she went missing. Police have questioned the man and searched his home.

She was married to two other men at the time, which her roommate told the Cape Cod Times was part of an immigration fraud scheme.

Several people have been interviewed, but there have been no charges filed in connection with her disappearance or death, and the district attorney appealed to the public for help.

"We are now requesting that anyone who either knowingly or unknowingly aided Trudie's killer come forward by contacting the Massachusetts State Police," he said.

Hall's mother, Vivienne Walker, has said she long ago accepted the fact that her daughter was dead. A message left with Walker on Tuesday was not immediately returned.
