Free Outdoor Simulcast Of A.R.T's 'Woody Sez'
Thursday night, Harvard University and the American Repertory Theater are collaborating on a live, outdoor simulcast of A.R.T.'s "Woody Sez."
While "Woody Sez," a musical about folk legend Woody Guthrie, is being staged inside the Loeb Drama Center, the performance will be simulcast for free outside, on a big screen, on Harvard's campus.
Lori Gross, associate provost of arts and culture at Harvard, says the project is a duel-celebration to honor Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday and Harvard's 375th. But according to Gross and the A.R.T., it also represents a first for New England.
"It's the first time that a live, outdoor simulcast is being done outside of New York," Gross said.
It's for the community, Gross explained, and she hopes as many people as possible will take advantage of picking up tickets at Harvard's box office.
There's a third partner involved in the event. Harvard Square's Club Passim is producing a live pre-show performance by Sara Lee Guthrie, Woody Guthrie's granddaughter. She goes on at 6:30 p.m. and "Woody Sez" starts at 7:30 p.m.
This program aired on May 17, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
