Gov. Patrick Names New Transportation Board

Gov. Deval Patrick has appointed a newly expanded, seven-member board of directors for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Patrick reappointed four members of the existing board and added two new members. Transportation Secretary Richard Davey will serve as an ex-officio member of the panel.

A new law passed by the Legislation in July expanded the board from five to seven members.

Patrick said the new board has the expertise needed to help the state meet the challenges needed to maintain and improve its transportation system.

The Board will be chaired by John Jenkins, who served as chairman of both the old MassDOT and MBTA Boards before they were dissolved.

The other members of the expanded board are Alan Macdonald, Joseph Bonfiglio, Ferdinand Alvaro, Janice Loux, and Andrew Whittle.
