State's Public Health Chief Resigns Amid Crime Lab Crisis

In the rolling catastrophe of the state drug lab, we now know the buck apparently stops with Public Health Commissioner John Auerbach.

Auerbach has submitted his resignation, accepting blame for the failure to monitor, detect and report the mishandling of drug samples by a single state chemist.

The drug evidence in as many as 34,000 cases has now come under suspicion.
