UMass To Get Capital Funds For New Buildings

Gov. Deval Patrick's administration has announced more than $600 million in capital investments in the University of Massachusetts system.

The plan announced on Tuesday includes a new, $85 million physical sciences building on the university's flagship Amherst campus; a $100 million academic building on the Boston campus; and a $35 million building to house the Manning School of Business at UMass-Lowell.

Those projects and others will be financed through the sale of bonds.

Patrick also announced that Roxbury Community College will receive $20.7 million over the next five years to improve its academic and media arts building and plan for other physical improvements.
