The race is on to replace U.S. Sen. John Kerry, who's expected to be confirmed as secretary of state. Rep. Ed Markey is the first candidate to declare his candidacy in a future special election to replace Kerry, which could also include outgoing Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, as well as a handful of other Democrats.
