Menino Is Back At His Hyde Park Residence

After an extended illness forced Boston Mayor Thomas Menino to stay away for months, he has returned to his house in the Readville section of Hyde Park.

Menino is still undergoing physical therapy to regain his strength after an eight-week hospital stay that began in late October and has been followed by months of rehab.

But his convalescence at the city-owned Parkman House is over. Menino said Monday he's happy to be back in his own bed.

"Let me tell you, I love it, it's great to be back home," he said. "It's always nice to be in your home in your own bed."

The mayor had been staying at the Parkman House since December because it's equipped with an elevator and is closer to City Hall and Spaulding Hospital, where he's been undergoing rehab.
