Holyoke Residents Organize After Daytime Killing

Following the first homicide in Holyoke in more than a year and a half, residents are organizing to protect their neighborhoods.

The Republican reports that 35-year-old Danny Rodriguez was killed Tuesday afternoon in what police say was the first homicide in more than 20 months.

Residents took to Facebook and on Saturday gathered near the spot where Rodriguez was killed to call for an end to violence and better protection of neighborhoods.

Police say the suspects in the shooting may have used a scooter as a getaway vehicle. At least one of the rounds fired at Rodriguez struck a nearby multi-family home.

No arrests have been made.
