How To Treat A Veteran's 'Moral Injury'07:29

This article is more than 6 years old.

Today we conclude our series about how the effects of war may be causing "moral injury" to soldiers. It's a term some experts use to describe the aftereffects, including guilt, of being involved with some active war that conflicts with deeply held moral beliefs.

To talk about how to identify and treat moral injury, we're joined by Shira Maguen, who teaches psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco, and works with veterans at a VA Medical Center there.

This program aired on June 28, 2013.
