Amid growing uproar by some in the business community, Gov. Deval Patrick invited House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Therese Murray to join business leaders in his office for a meeting about a new sales tax on some computer services.

The goal was to find a compromise to both soothe industry concerns about the tax while finding a way to guard the revenue from the tax earmarked to pay for huge state transportation improvements.

Many in the tech sector decry the tax as too vague and overreaching. Some say it can apply to almost anything a programmer does and want the tax repealed.

To hear more about the argument for repeal, Morning Edition spoke to Chris Anderson, president of the Massachusetts High Technology Council.
