Departing Mayor Menino To Take Position At BU
Outgoing Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will take a position in Boston University's political science department after his 20-year tenure ends in January.
WBZ-TV first reported the news Tuesday morning. The Boston Globe then reported that Menino will become director of a new Initiative on Cities, which will study urban issues.
Graham Wilson, the chairman of BU's political science department, confirmed to WBUR that Menino will join his department. A formal announcement is planned for Wednesday.
Menino had been offered positions at multiple area universities.
The 70-year-old Menino will leave office on Jan. 6, 2014.
