3rd Man Arrested In New Bedford Death

A third person has been arrested in connection with the weekend slaying of a New Bedford man.

Authorities say 25-year-old Hailton DaCosta was apprehended Tuesday.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on charges including murder and armed robbery.

Two other city men, 21-year-old Elio Mendes and 27-year-old Samir Baptista are charged as accessories in connection with the death of 31-year-old Sharone Stafford.

Police and paramedics responded to reported gunshots shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday and found Stafford lying on Winsor Street near the intersection of Crapo Street. He died at St. Luke's Hospital.

Baptista has been held without bail, Menses on $150,000 bail, after pleading not guilty.
