Portraits Of Boston: 'I Have Schizophrenia'

“I have schizophrenia. I think my brain just doesn’t make the connections between certain things. Then I’m angry about it. It’s like this episode. Most of the time I’m fine, but sometimes at night I go outside, and I’m hearing things, and I’m trying to figure out what it is.”

“What’s the most difficult part of dealing with it?”

“Falling asleep and not being alert enough to keep my house clean. Sometimes I’m in tune, and I can keep it in order, but sometimes I’m not, and I need help. I kind of like clutter a little bit. I think it’s a little artsy. I’d kick stuff around to rearrange it and think, OK, that looks fine.”
