But in eastern Massachusetts there's competition. Wynn Resorts has proposed a casino in Everett, while Mohegan Sun wants to build a casino on the Revere side of the Suffolk Downs racetrack.

One of the sticking points in both deals has been the city of Boston's role. State gaming regulators are giving Boston one more week to reach a surrounding community agreement with both sides, even as Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says he still believes Boston should be a host community.

Mohegan Gaming CEO Mitchell Etess joined WBUR's Morning Edition to talk about why he believes the license should go to Revere.

This segment aired on June 17, 2014.
