Man Withdraws Pleas In Arborway Crash

A 19-year-old Boston man has withdrawn his expected plea in a road crash that seriously injured two people after the judge said he would face a year in jail.

The court was shown a victim impact video Friday of a father of three who's unable to walk or speak after the 2013 head-on crash on Boston's Jamaica Plain Arborway.

The judge said afterward she'd sentence Nikolas Papadopoulos to jail on the negligent operation charge against him. His attorney said Papadopoulos doesn't remember the crash and won't admit to the charge if it means jail time. A jury trial is now set for March.

Police said Papadopoulos was speeding when his SUV hit an oncoming pick-up truck. The pick-up driver, 33-year-old Kevin Cellucci, was paralyzed. A 14-year-old passenger in the SUV also was paralyzed.
