Gov. Deval Patrick will become a private citizen as of noon Thursday, as Republican Charlie Baker is sworn in as the state's new governor.

On Wednesday, Patrick took the symbolic "lone walk" down the State House steps, marking the end of his two terms in office.

WBUR's Steve Brown was there, and he joined All Things Considered from the State House to discuss the walk, and the other ceremonies that took place to mark the end of Patrick's time as governor. Listen to the full conversation above.

This segment aired on January 7, 2015.
