As the New England Patriots get ready for their eighth appearance in the Super Bowl, the team has no explanation for a mystery that's threatening the reputations of the players, the coaches and the entire organization.

The Patriots took time out of their Super Bowl preparations Thursday to address allegations they violated NFL regulations by playing with under-inflated footballs in at least one game — the AFC Championship five days ago in Foxborough.

WBUR's Curt Nickisch joins Morning Edition to tell us what the Patriots are saying on the matter.
