Prospective Juror Has Sympathy For Tsarnaev, Cites Young Age

This article is more than 4 years old.

One prospective juror in the trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has sympathy for him, saying he's young and she wonders if "he just made a really big mistake."

The woman said Friday during jury questioning that it would be difficult for her to think of Tsarnaev as an adult and that she couldn't sentence him to death.

The woman is a former software engineer who now raises chickens.

Tsarnaev was 19 at the time of the deadly attack on April 15, 2013. He is now 21.

Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when bombs exploded near the finish line.

The judge has individually questioned more than 100 prospective jurors over nine days. Many have said they already believe Tsarnaev is guilty.
