Boston's bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics is over.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is looking for a different city to nominate in September. It says that's because public support for the bid is not strong enough here in Boston.

The decision came soon after Boston Mayor Marty Walsh held a news conference to say he could not sign a host community contract that would have made the city responsible for any cost overruns.

Walsh joined Morning Edition to discuss the Olympic bid process and whether he's disappointed that Boston his now out of the running to host the 2024 Summer Games.

This segment aired on July 28, 2015.
