Forecast: Today Is Cooler, Less Humid — But Heat May Rise Into 90s Tomorrow

Welcome to September. If your child is heading back to school today the weather looks great for driving and waiting at the bus stop. By the way, if you don’t have kids in school, remember the buses are going to start rolling over the coming week, so it's a good idea to leave some extra time to allow for getting stuck behind them.

Today will be a cooler and less humid day. Monday marked day 10 at 90 degrees or higher, but we won’t repeat it today. Warmer and more humid air does arrive for the middle of the week with another run at 90 degrees both Wednesday and Thursday. Clouds and some showers may keep high temperatures a little bit less hot Thursday, so Wednesday may end up the warmest day of the next 5.

You might have noticed it hasn’t rained in a while. We need rain again, and there is a brief window of opportunity for some showers on Thursday. Even with the chance of rain, there will still be a lot of sunshine. The front responsible for the shower opportunity Thursday will usher in dry and warm weather for the end of the week.

Now that September here, it’s time to think about Labor Day weekend. In some years, Labor Day weekend would occur partly in August, but this year, Labor Day weekend is as late as it can occur. The day is likely to be a warm one, too.

Today: Sunny and less humid, with a high near 85.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low 61-65.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot. Highs 85-90.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot. Quite humid. Highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

Friday: Mostly sunny, and drier. Highs 75-80.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high in the lower 80s.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 85.

Labor Day: Sunny, with a high 85-90.
