Forecast: Cool And Cloudy With Temps Stuck In The 50s Today

A cold front passing through the area today will leave a cooler and cloudier day in its place than we saw yesterday. While temperatures on Tuesday reached in to the 60s, we will be stuck in the 50s today with a lot of clouds. There could be a few showers this morning over Cape Cod this morning.

This same frontal system will flip and head back to the north on Thursday. This brings a return to the mild air Thursday, with temperatures rising well into the 60s — perhaps even nearing 70 degrees in a few places.

Once again, sunshine will be limited on Thursday, and showers are possible later in the afternoon.

In October the weather is often controlled by frontal systems that pass the region every few days. Like clockwork, a new cold front will usher in colder air for Friday. Highs Friday only reach the lower 50s, and there will be a chill to the air.

When you get up Saturday morning it will feel crisp and frosty. Temperatures will hover around freezing for a few hours before rebounding into the mid 50s. It will be a nice day to take in some fall foliage, which is peaking in the nearby northern and western suburbs of Boston.

Sunday brings back more cloudiness and milder air. That’s the tradeoff: temperatures near 60 in the afternoon — but with more clouds.

The overall pattern of generally dry weather does continue. I don’t see any significant rain for the next week or longer.
