Woman On Bicycle Dies In Cape Cod Crash

A bicyclist has died after being struck by a car on Cape Cod.

Police and fire officials say the accident occurred Friday afternoon on a busy stretch of Route 6 in Eastham.

Fire Capt. Bill Piltzecker tells the Cape Cod Times that the bicyclist, a woman, was apparently trying to cross the highway when she was hit by a Nissan Versa. The driver of the car stopped, and the accident is under investigation.

The bicyclist was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where she died. Her name has not been released.

Peter Noble, owner of Idle Times Bike Shop in Eastham, told The Boston Globe that the area where the accident happened is extremely dangerous for bicyclists because they have to cross four lanes of traffic.
