Mass. Gearing Up For Holiday Travel Crunch

Massachusetts transportation officials say they are ready for the expected Thanksgiving holiday travel crunch.

State Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Pollack is urging residents to take advantage of real-time information available online or through mobile applications to make sure they are on time for their plane or train, and to avoid getting caught in highway backups.

Officials are urging holiday travelers to use public transportation whenever possible while traveling.

The MBTA says it will add service to and from Logan International Airport during peak travel times.

The T will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day.

AAA predicts that nearly 47 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles over the holiday period, a slight increase over a year ago.
