Fatal Shooting In East Boston Is City's First Homicide Of 2016

A male victim was fatally shot early Sunday morning in East Boston, Boston police said in a statement. The shooting death is the city's first homicide of 2016, a spokesman for the city's police department confirmed Sunday.

Officers found the victim, who has not yet been identified, suffering from gunshot wounds at 1:36 a.m. Sunday near 144 Falcon Street, according to the statement. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Boston police are investigating and asking anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 617-343-4470.
