A chunk of the fight on the Democratic side of the New Hampshire presidential primary plays out near Route 1 in Hampton, by the sea coast.

Hillary Clinton won this county, Rockingham County, in 2008, and polls suggest she's at least close to the state-wide front-runner Bernie Sanders, right in Hampton, right now.

To get the lay of the political landscape from each campaigns point of view, we spoke to two top New Hampshire politicians for Morning Edition: U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who supports Clinton, and state Rep. Renny Cushing, who is backing Sanders.

This segment aired on February 8, 2016.
