Forecast: Any Rain Ends This Morning, Colder Weather Coming

The past few days, the weather has certainly not been boring. Since Friday we’ve seen unseasonable warmth, humidity, heavy rain, flash flooding and intense wind.

This morning we find a potent disturbance running within the jet stream. This is bringing heavy showers to some areas with the least rain over northern areas. The rain will take off through the morning commute and by the afternoon, I expect sunshine will return to the region.

Behind this weather system, the coldest air of the fall season arrives. Temperatures over the next few days will run significantly below the long-term average, and the November feeling in the air will remind us what’s to come as if we needed reminding anyway.

I do expect plenty of sunshine Tuesday through most of Thursday. Average highs should be in the 50s right now, but tomorrow and Wednesday most places will remain in the 40s. This mean the heat will likely need to go on, even if it hasn’t as of yet.

Early Friday a low pressure system brings more rain to the area. October is going to end up being the wettest month since back in February, and at this point, it’s just a matter how much wetter than average we end up. From Worcester to Providence to Boston, this has been a wet month.

It does appear the rain would end early enough to give us a nice weekend, but it’s early in the game.  I can tell you I don’t see any major cold on the way, and this is good news as we gently ease into November next week.
