A trial over Massachusetts' voter registration law is scheduled to begin Wednesday in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts has filed a civil lawsuit claiming the deadline requiring people to register 20 days before an election is unconstitutional. The state denies that.

Jessie Rossman, staff attorney with the ACLU of Massachusetts, joined Morning Edition to discuss the lawsuit.

This segment aired on July 5, 2017.
