Law Enforcement Conference Meets To Discuss Addiction Before Arrest

Police officers from around the country are meeting in Boston this week to share ideas on steps they can take before arrests to prevent deaths from drug overdoses.

The summit, organized by the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative, or PAARI, wraps up Wednesday afternoon.

Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan talked to Morning Edition about the summit.
