Multiple Casualties Reported At Pittsburgh Synagogue

Pittsburgh police reported "multiple casualties" at a synagogue Saturday morning and an active shooter nearby.

Commander Jason Lando said the shooting was reported near the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood.

Pittsburgh tweeted the active shooting was near the intersection of Wilkins and Shady avenues, where the Tree of Life Congregation synagogue is located.

The congregation's president declined to comment.

The tree-lined residential neighborhood of Squirrel Hill, about 10 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, has a heavily Jewish population.

No further information was immediately available.
