State Regulators Shutter Acton Medical Cannabis Dispensary

Mass Wellspring, a registered medical cannabis dispensary in Acton, has been ordered by the Cannabis Control Commission to shut down its operations immediately.

Following an unannounced inspection by the state Thursday, Mass Wellspring received a cease and desist order that prevents the company from cultivating, processing and dispensing medical marijuana to patients.

Inspectors said they found operations that violate regulations, and that those violations pose an immediate or serious threat to public health, safety and welfare.

The alleged violations relate to security, sanitation, waste disposal and the labeling of cannabis products.

Mass Wellspring will be required to take remedial measures to regain compliance with state regulations before it can re-open. The investigation into the alleged violations is active; however, no product recall has been issued.

State regulators urged to visit the medical use of marijuana program website to find alternative medical cannabis dispensaries.
