Female Cyclist From Cambridge Killed In Crash With Cement Truck In Boston

A female cyclist from Cambridge was killed Friday in a crash with a cement truck in Boston.

Paula Sharaga, 69, was pronounced dead after being transported to Brigham and Women's hospital.

The truck's operator, a 67-year-old Salem man, was transported to Beth Israel hospital for evaluation.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Brookline Avenue and Park Drive, state police said in a statement. Police say Sharaga, while on her bike, came into contact with the front end of the cement truck.

Two inbound lanes on Park Drive were closed following the crash to allow investigators and emergency workers onto the scene.

The sequence of events leading up to the crash remains under investigation.
