Today's Weather: Wet Monday Makes Way For Chilly Week

I hope you got a chance to enjoy the sunshine this weekend, because it's a wet morning across Massachusetts.

Temperatures will be significantly cooler than yesterday, when it reached close to 70 degrees in a couple of spots during the afternoon. The timing of the weather has been good, as we've enjoyed nice weekends this early spring.

A warm front will move north during the day, and it's bringing rain. A cold front will cross the area later today before stalling to our south. Another wave of low pressure will develop along this front tomorrow and bring additional showers late in the afternoon or evening. Since we will be on the colder side of the weather system tomorrow, temperatures will be only in the upper 30s to mid-40s — very raw indeed.

The Red Sox home opener is Tuesday and it will be very chilly with temperatures falling to near 40 during the game and wind chill in the 30s. Bundle up and bring hand warmers if you're headed to Fenway.

Wednesday is a damp day to start, but there will be some improvement late in the day that continues for Thursday and the first part of Friday. Temperatures will be back toward seasonable averages. A few showers come in Friday night, and if everything moves quickly, we'll get a nice weekend again with readings back into the 60s and plenty of sunshine.

Early thoughts on Marathon Monday: There are growing signs of a coastal storm system, which would mean rain and cold weather at some point early next week. It's too early to give timing on this, but if I were running the marathon, I might start to think about how I would handle another wet, cold one.

This could change, but presently it looks cold and wet again for this year's marathon. (Tropical Tidbits)
