Sit Back, Relax, Enjoy The Art: Teen-Designed Chairs Debut At Copley

A new addition to Copley Square lets you appreciate the work of local artists — and provides a nice place to sit, as well.

John Hancock commissioned teen artists from Artists For Humanity to paint 15 Adirondack chairs, said Rich Frank, of Artists For Humanity. (Artists for Humanity supports WBUR.)

The exhibit is titled "Our Boston," and each chair represents two parts of history, Frank wrote in an email — one historical, and one municipal. The chairs feature scenes including the swan boats or from "Make Way For Ducklings" done in the styles of Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Vincent van Gogh and more.

Teen designer Tina Vo said in a statement, "being able to design for this project has been a great opportunity. I am really excited that something I contributed to will be displayed in front of many people in a public setting."

The chairs will be up throughout the summer, and will be stored in the off-season so they can be displayed next summer, said Anne McNally, a spokesperson for John Hancock.
