Massachusetts no longer has an operating nuclear power plant.

On Friday at 5:28 p.m., the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth shut down its reactor, forever.

Pilgrim generated electricity for New England for nearly 50 years.

WBUR's Bruce Gellerman was at the plant and joined All Things Considered with this report.
