Judge Orders Suspect In Brookline's 1st Homicide In 13 Years Held Without Bail

Court documents show that the first homicide in Brookline in 13 years reportedly stemmed from a botched drug deal.

Singha Oeun was held without bail at his arraignment Thursday in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Nicolas Kern. A not guilty plea to a murder charge was entered on the suspect's behalf.

Kern was stabbed 10 times in Amory Park at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and died at the hospital.

According to the police report, the men knew each other and arranged to meet so Kern could buy prescription pills. Kern was stabbed during a struggle.

Police say Oeun in social media messages to a relative said "he was intoxicated and try to rob me," and "No witnesses, relax."

Kern's death is the first homicide in the Boston suburb since 2006.
