6 Boston Cultural Institutions Sign Letter For Additional Relief Funding

Leaders from six Boston cultural institutions, including the Institute of Contemporary Art and the New England Aquarium, have signed a letter to Congress requesting additional emergency relief funding. The non-profit organizations are asking for increased allocations to at least $6 billion dollars for the Institute of Museums and Library Services, which distributes grants to a diverse slate of organizations, including zoos and aquariums.

The letter says these institutions around the country are losing millions of dollars each week because of the pandemic, and are still paying high costs while closed. They want help with maintaining buildings, caring for animals and art collections, and for recovery planning.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, Zoo New England and Boston Children's Museum also signed the letter.
