Worker At Swampscott Whole Foods Dies From COVID-19

An employee of the Whole Foods in Swampscott has died from COVID-19, the company said Friday in a statement.

"Our hearts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and with his fellow Team Members at our Swampscott, Massachusetts, store," said a Whole Foods spokesperson.

The employee died on Wednesday. No further details about him were available.

After the death of Vitalina Williams, who worked at a Market Basket in Salem, Gov. Charlie Baker said supermarket workers can be tested for the virus at two drive-thru sties that were originally set up just for police, fire and other emergency personnel.

The state Department of Public Health also issued guidance earlier this month that requires supermarkets to cap their occupancy at 40% of the maximum.
