Weekend Weather: Full On Summer Pattern

Sunshine is on the way today. It will be blended with cloudiness and we'll also have relatively comfortable humidity levels. Temperatures this afternoon get back into the 80s. I can't rule out an isolated shower, but this is generally a dry day, just like the past several. I think the best chance of showers would be south of the Mass Pike.

A warm front approaches the area overnight, ushering in more humid conditions. Temperatures are going to be quite mild, in the 60s, all night long before rising back into the 80s tomorrow. There could be a shower with the arrival of the humid air and then there might be another pop up shower or thunderstorm later in the afternoon. These types of situations can produce heavy downpours, although most areas don't see much rain. It will sound like a broken record in terms of the forecast for Sunday. Again there will be the chance for a shower or thunderstorm, but a lot of sunshine blended with clouds.

If you want to avoid rain, it's going to be important that you keep an eye on the radar. But know that most of the time, there's not going to be any rain.

Early next week, temperatures will trend a little bit cooler. Along with the break in the heat will come some building clouds and the chance for a couple of showers. None of the days look like they will be a wash out, but I do think showers will be mentioned in the forecast into early next week.

The drought monitor, which takes a look at the amount of rain and soil moisture, has now put much of Southern New England in a moderate drought. This doesn't mean we officially have a drought, per se, as that call has to be made by local officials. However, rainfall is definitely at a premium and those of you with any gardens or newly planted things will definitely want to keep watering on a regular basis. The best time to do this is early in the morning before 9 a.m. Watering  in the middle of the day is not productive, as much of it evaporates.
