Today's Weather: A Few More Showers, Then Cooler

Another weather system will bring about some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm today, especially from late morning through the afternoon. This is the leading edge of a new air mass that will be present for tomorrow and Thursday with lower humidity and cooler temperatures. I expect winds to be coming from the Northeast the next couple of days and that will keep temperatures in the 70s for the afternoons over the next couple days. This will give you a good chance to do some outdoor work if it's been too hot recently.

As we head for the end of the week and the weekend, high pressure will build offshore and once again heat and humidity will return. I'm still questioning whether or not Saturday afternoon's temperatures will be all that hot, but I think by the time we get to the late part of the weekend many areas will see temperatures at or above 90 degrees. This could last for several days next week. Remember: a heat wave is three days in a row of 90 degree weather. That's definitely possible.
