Man Shot, Injured By Wakefield Police Charged In His Mother’s Death
A New Hampshire man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his mother in Massachusetts, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Thursday.
Timothy Martin, 23, of Manchester, faces murder and three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the killing of Pamela Wood, 61, of Wakefield.
He’s expected to be arraigned later, and it’s not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
Wood was found dead in her basement on the morning of Jan. 19 with “multiple traumatic injuries” by officers conducting a well-being check. Wood had failed to show up for her job as a speech therapist at an elementary school in town.
Police said they shot and injured Martin after he ran toward them holding a knife above his head and refused orders to drop it.
He was taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, where he remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to Ryan’s office.
The two officers who discharged their weapons have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
