Abortion-rights advocates gathered in Boston on Saturday as others rallied in cities nationwide ahead of the U.S. Supreme Court's new session, which may determine the future of abortion in this country.
The protesters decried Texas' new law, which bans abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. They also turned their eyes on the Supreme Court. The court, which has a conservative majority, has agreed to take up a Mississippi case that limits abortion after 15 weeks.
At the Franklin Park Playstead in Boston, U.S. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and U.S. Sen. Edward Markey spoke to the more than 1,000 people gathered at the rally.
WBUR photographer Jesse Costa captured scenes from the event. Below, we've collected some of his images of the people, the politicians and political signage seen at the protest.
